OUR  HISTORY

Malvern Engineering Works was established in June 1947, as a general engineering business, servicing the mining industry.

Over the years the company expanded, manufacturing a wide range of products such as sheave wheels, heavy media drum separators, medium and low intensity magnetic separators (for ore concentration), suspended electro and permanent magnets, cyclones, sieve bends and sampling systems. In house designing of equipment started in the year 1980.

The company entered into strategic alliances with Ludowici (later acquired by FLSmidth) in 1996 for licensed manufacturing of fine and coarse coal centrifuges and with Minco-Tech, Australia for heavy media and classifying cyclones in 2007. Malvern has sales agreements with Phoenix Process Equipment Co

In recent times Malvern Engineering has diversified and expanded its operations significantly. Malvern Engineering has seven group companies under its umbrella:

  • Ingwenya Mineral Processing (Pty) Ltd
  • Wedge Wire Industries (Pty) Ltd
  • Schumar Engineering (Pty) Ltd
  • Minco Malvern Process Equipment Company (Pty) Ltd
  • Malvern Mozambique
  • Umgeni Iron and Steel Works (Pty) Ltd.

We have since become the market leaders in many products that find applications in the mineral beneficiation sector and through a continual improvement process strive to maintain this position in the market. With our dedicated in house design facilities, coupled with the latest in computer aided design software, we are able to customize our products to suit various customer requirements.

KEY PRODUCTS

Magnetic Separators

Available in a variety of configurations and sizes these low, medium and high intensity magnetic separators combine a robust design with economical operating costs and extremely high efficiencies. Manufactured in both 304 and 316 stainless steel, it is the industry standard in sub-Saharan mining.

centrifuges

Since 1996 Malvern Engineering through its license agreement with Ludowici
(now FLSmidth) has marketed,  manufactured and provided after sales support for a variety of centrifuges suitable for the dewatering of both fine  and coarse coal.

Heavy Media Drums

Malvern Engineering has a long and proud history of supplying Heavy Media Drum separators into the Southern African and international markets as far abroad as Australia and Asia. Through complete local manufacture and design, we guarantee a hight quality product.

suspended electromagnets

Malvern Engineering has a comprehensive range of heavy-duty, manual and self-cleaning Tramp Metal Removal Magents designed and manufactured to withstand harsh mining conditions. The magnets DC powered, oil cooled coils produce strong magnetic fields.

demagnetising Coils

Generally used for the Demagnetisation of magnetitie or ferro-sillicon slurries recovered by wet drum magnetic separators. Malvern Engineering demagnetising coils are available in a variety of sizes and electrical configurations to suit most mining applications.

samplers

Malvern Engineering specializes in the design and manufacture of high-precision sampling equipment for bulk materials and solids. Our innovative solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of various industries, ensuring accurate and reliable sampling results.
